Reflection, Feedback, & Projects

Congratulations on completing your first set of midterms!  As we finish the first semester and start the second, it is a good time to stop, reflect, and improve.  To facilitate that discussion I've created a mid-year class evaluation to elicit your feedback.  Parents and students, please click the link below to

The survey is anonymous, so please be honest.  With your help, we can improve the learning experience, and I can improve as an educator.  Parents, I welcome your feedback as well.

We have two more days in class to put the finishing touches on your video projects.  All videos should be uploaded to YouTube and unlisted so it cannot be viewed by the public unless you sign a Media Consent Form.  The link to the video needs to be posted on Its Learning by midnight on Monday, Feb 4th.  (D period, since I only see you once this week, yours will be due on Tuesday and I"ll give you Monday to work in class as well).

Midterm Q & A and Extra Credit

If you're getting ready for the midterms but have some questions, post them to the Midterm Q & A discussion forum on Its Learning. I will be away from my email all weekend, but help each other out!

Anyone who posts INTELLIGENT questions or answers in this forum will receive extra credit.

Now there's some incentive to help out your fellow classmate and ASK QUESTIONS!

Gravitation Test Tomorrow

Getting ready for the gravitation test?  Don't forget to check out the resources on Its Learning.

I won't be there tomorrow, but good luck!  I know you'll do well.

Midterms! never too soon to get ready

It's that time of year; 12 days from now midterms will be upon us and you'll have the opportunity to demonstrate all of the awesome knowledge and understanding you developed so far this year.  As you get ready for your midterms, here's a few great tips from wikiHow:
  1. Study in 20 min chunks.  Take a break, do something active.
  2. Make it a group effort.  Discussing the material with someone will help you understand it more deeply.
  3. Don't wait.  Studying a little bit here and there means you can get some sleep before that test.
  4. Rewrite your notes and prioritize the most important information.

What's on the Intro Physics Midterm?

Start working on your physics cheat sheet now.  You can use one side of an 8.5" x 11" page with absolutely anything on it.  Remember, it's the process of making it that really helps you.

I am available Tuesday and Wednesday after school next week.  Come with questions!

Good luck!

To calculate the actual gravitational force, we will have to deal with annoyingly large masses and distances.  Writing these numbers in scientific notation will make it much easier.  Read this article, and watch the example video for homework tonight (A & G periods).

HW Monday, 1-7

D & E periods

  • Planetary Worksheet:  If a rover originally weighs 100 N on Earth, use the data to figure out how much it weighs elsewhere in the solar system.
  • Teach someone the inverse square law, document it, and have them sign it back (see previous post)
